Aug. 8th - SYC Cortez Outstation

This morning it was very foggy & pouring rain.  Hoping it will slow down before we leave which will be around 10am to once again time the Dent Rapids (started before 7:00 & rained most of the night).  I'm definitely ready for the rain to stop at any time now...would like some sun for the rest of the trip.   We actually left at 10:35 & had to put our foul weather gear on again.  

Shadow seems finally to be getting used to the engines.  He definitely heads for the forward cabin sleeping bag or goes to Talia's sleeping bag (the girls trade) to hang out.  But this time he was up in the salon by 10:45 for a short visit & some food.  He spent the last hour of the trip with us too.

It's a long trip back to Desolation. We arrived at about 4pm & it rained all day long.  There were a lot of boats in Prideaux Haven & around Scobel Island.  Rod couldn't find a good place to anchor so we decided to keep going to SYC.  It's another 1-1/2 hrs added on to our trip but that seemed like the right decision.

We arrived at Cortez at 6pm & the outstation was full so we ended up anchoring out.  Most of the boats had fenders out for rafting but Rod said you usually don't do that unless a boater invites you to.  It is still pouring!!! 

Dinner tonight will be leftover flank steak & bean salad - easy.  But now cocktails!!!
