Aug. 3rd - Kwatsi Bay Marina

This morning the Captain tackled a problem that has been ongoing for us & getting worse - our head!  There's an odor that's been getting worse as our trip has progressed.  Rod thought he figured it out a few days ago when he replaced the anti-siphon valve to the outside which was plugged up.  But that didn't solve the problem so he has been noodling the issue for a few days (like engineers do!) & decided that it was an aft holding tank issue.  It wasn't emptying so this morning he replaced the valves in the discharge pump. Think that solved it - we'll see.  So nice to have such a knowledgeable & handy Captain!

It started raining this morning around 8:30 which was predicted for the next 2 days.  Nicely, it stopped just as we were getting ready to go.  We left Pierre's at 10:20.  We go past Lacy Falłs on the way to Kwatsi & there was no water coming down at all although it looked wet.  There was no water last year either but we've seen it pouring down & even got the bow close enough so water was spraying all over it.

We arrived at Kwatsi at noon & will be here for 2 nights.  We were thrilled to see Anka (half of the owner team - Max is the other) as we'd heard she had a terrible accident falling off a ladder resulting in many injuries in Feb.  We've been coming here for a long time & remember their son & daughter when they were quite young.  Now they are both gone, working & going to college.

There were 12 boats here this afternoon, no room for more.  This is partly a function of how big the boats are that come in.  5pm is happy hour - bring your own beverage & an appetizer.  There are several boats here that we know which is always fun.  One of the boats is a couple that we met at Echo Bay last year & she ended up going out with us with Nikki.  It definitely warmed up this afternoon & the sun came out.

Great happy hour - 12 boats, 12 different appetizers.  It was fun to meet new people & visit with some we knew.
