Aug. 6th - Blind Channel

We left Pt Harvey at 6am to cross Johnstone Straits & have the current with us. Water was very smooth, 1-2 knots wind & high marine layer.  Another excellent job done by the Captain (even though the alarm went off at 5:30).  We're going straight down Johnstone today - we normally go thru the rapids & cut behind the north side of Hardwic Island.

At about 7am, a very large, Princess cruise ship on its way to Ałaska passed us by.  Rod took pictures so it might end up on the blog whenever we are able to get them up. We know it's been quite awhile since Rod's been able to post them - you'll see lots when we can.

We arrived at Blind Channel at 10:25.  There were not many boats here when we arrived but apparently that was because a lot left before we got here.  It was 65' & blue sky so should be a great day.  We'll be here 2 nights - barbequing flank steak tonite with leftover marinated 4 bean salad & rice and dinner in the restaurant tomorrow.

Today there are 4 SYC boats here - one is a couple we spent some time with at Pierre's, and the marina is full.  We certainly have seen a lot more SYC boats in the Broughtons this year.  Not sure why.    It got up to 70' today but started to drizzle around 6pm.
