Aug. 4th - Kwatsi Bay

Quite a few boats left this morning & by the afternoon the marina was filled again with 11 boats - now 5 of us from SYC (1 rafted to another as there wasn't any room left).  We haven't met the other SYC boaters before.  The boats this time are larger, so not as much room at the dock.  Tonight there is going to be a potluck dinner at 6pm.  Quite a few kids now too.

The Internet has been good here but they, like most of the marinas in the Broughton's, ask that you only download emails or they get overloaded & crash.  Kwatsi also turns the Internet off during part of the day & during the night.

Rod saw a baby seal in the bay behind the marina with it's mom but I couldn't find it when I looked.  Kwatsi has a little store which carries books, clothing, jewelry & local jams/jellies that a woman makes on Vancouver Island.  I bought 2 to put on goat cheese - a whiskey marmalade & a "Gossip Chutney" with a very interesting combo of ingredients & spices.

Dinner was amazing - 2 different salmon, halibut (which people caught) & lots of sides, desserts & appetizers.  It was a real variety of things.

Tomorrow we are headed for Pt Harvey & will cross Johnstone Straits on Thurs assuming the weather is good & go to Blind Channel.
