July 3rd - Ovens Island

Well, we're here 1 more day as it's still windy in the straits.  Looks like it might be Mon. before we get across the straits!  It was in the high 70's at 6:30 & at 8:10 it's already 78' inside the boat.  Looks like another hot one!!!  

I walked the dock in the am, visited with other boaters & then walked around the island to get some exercise.  I went up on the flybridge, reading, as there was a nice breeze - put the umbrella up & then it blew out of the hole in the floor as the wind picked up.  Had to have Rod come up to help me get it back in.

2 boats left this morning to head south & 1 more came in this afternoon.

Catnap Inn, where we board Shadow, gave him peacock feathers to play with while we were in Maui.  They gave me 1 to take home but I couldn't get him to play with it so I brought it on the boat & stuck it behind the privacy door to the forward cabins.  Today Shadow discovered it & managed to get it out & play with it in the salon & our bedroom.  He totally ate up the ones at Catnap, just leaving the stem, so will be interesting to see what happens to this one.

Tonight's dinner will be steak & hashbrowns.  We don't have wine on the boat yet so have been experimenting with vodka drinks & Rod's been drinking mostly scotch.  I've been mixing mine with cranberry juice & we got a daiquiri soda stream mix which I've also used.
