July 2nd - SYC Ovens Island

It's going to be another hot one today - it was 80' at 6:30, maybe partly do to sun on the flybridge.  Wind is still high for the straits so we're staying another day.  Looks like we might have to wait until Sun. but Rod is checking each evening & morning for the wind forecast.

Shadow has totally settled in - his toys were all over our stateroom last night - he'd taken them all out of his box.  This morning when I got up his mat that is usually on the couch was on the floor next to my side of the bed.  He's also taken to batting his balls around our bed at various times during the night.  Very noisy on the hardwood floors!

5 more SYC boats showed up today - 3 from Ganges/Montague, 1 coming from Alaska & 1 from the Broughtons.  One of the boats is a couple we see every summer.

We listened to the BC boaters net ham radio group at 5pm & it sounds like the straits will not be good tomorrow.  One of the boaters was anchored out at Ladysmith & said he was seeing smoke from the hills.  It sounded like a wild fire was spreading & shortly thereafter we could smell the smoke.

We actually turned our air conditioning on around 5:30 because it was close to 90' inside the boat.  This is maybe the 2nd time we've used it.
